A Biblical Timeline Offers A Creative Approach To Aid And Help Teach Biblical Events And Truths

In our weekly Bible study some years ago, a friend who had been a Christian and laboured in the local Church for over 15 years, made this statement,”Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about……” (they were not talking about the pre-mosaic law) I wonder how many Christians will really notice the inaccuracy in this claim. Moses lived five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since compiled a Bible history timeline and shown in a more graphic way the dating of people and events.

Why do we dwell on our favorite subjects and feel good messages?

We teach on a verse from Nahum and a story about David and a topical from the book of Daniel and then the obedience of Noah or the miracles of Jesus – bits from here and all over, but we do not put it all at once in a visible understandable, easy to remember, perspective with a decent Bible TimeLine including Church History as well. Constantly we’re bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, some of them hazardously edging toward Liberal doctrine, when if we could be taught the fundamental principles of Church history, we then would not be so doomed to repeat it.

Let’s us as tutors and preachers sew together the aspects of the Bible and His plan into a logical whole that our people are able to draw on for the rest of their lives, helping them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and ways to better interpret the Bible to model our lives by.

It is not difficult to do, and it is not boring if we’re ready to put in a bit of study and prayer and fervor, and just maybe you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.

Teaching Through The Bible Effectively Using A Bible Timeline

In a Bible study years ago, one person who had been a Christian and been involved in the local Church for over 15 years, said,”Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about……” (they weren’t talking about the pre-mosaic law) I wonder just how many Christians will really notice the error in this statement. Moses came about about five hundred years after Abraham and so it is an impossibility. I have since put together a Biblical chronological chart and shown visually the time period of men and women and occasions.

Some time ago, I was teaching on the life, death, resurrection and burial of Jesus Christ, and a retired pastor and strong preacher of the Gospel, who had been a minister for 40 years, came up and reproved me smartly over some interesting points I made and he referred to 1Ti 1:4’Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.’ I quietly asked him if I had been preaching anything of a heretical nature at all, to which he said”No”. I continued on to explain that in the case of that particular verse, it wasn’t referring to examining the Bible but to the false teachings and philosophy of the Gnostics, but he would not accept it. So, how can a 40 year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not understand and know about something that probably 1/2 the books of the New Testament relate to?

How could he understand and teach the Bible clearly without being familiar with something that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to understand these things and be in a position to interpret their Bible well, if they’re not told?

Let’s us as teachers and preachers stitch together the fragments of the Bible and His plan into a complete picture that our people are able to draw on for the rest of life, helping them to understand God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and how to better interpret the Bible to live by.

It is not hard to do, and it is not boring if we are ready to put in a bit of effort prayer and fervor, and just perhaps you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.

A Bible Timeline Chart Gives A Creative Way To Help Teach Bible Events And Characters And Realities

Alas, a numerous Pastors and teachers in our churches continue to preach superficial, flimsy, shallow, light weight sermons and their congregation hardly grow in biblical knowledge and understanding. Preachers love to preach’moral essays’ and’warming affirmations’ because supposedly, if we truly love our people this is what we will do. Unfortunate it seems, if God’s men and women are falling through the cracks’for an absence of knowledge’ as long as we are nice and loving to all. Truly, the more like this world, the less relevant we are to this world.

Why do we get stuck in a rut of our pet subjects and sugar coated preaching?

We teach on a verse from Hosea and a story about James and John and a theme from the book of Exodus and then the faith of Isaac or the miracles of Jesus – pieces from here and all over, but we do not put it all at once in a clear understandable, simple to remember, perspective with a good Bible TimeLine including Church History as well. Constantly we are bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, some of them hazardously edging toward Liberal theology, but if we could be instructed the basics of Church history, we then would not be so bound to do the same again.

Let’s us as instructors and preachers stitch together the fragments of the Bible and His plan into a complete picture that our people are able to draw on for the rest of their lives, to help them to comprehend God, His Eternal Plan, the function of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to order our lives by.

It’s not difficult to do, and it is not boring if we are prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just maybe you can use a Bible Timeline too.

A Biblical Bible Timeline Poster Presents A Graphic Representation To Convey Biblical Events And Facts

In our Bible study years ago, one person who had been a Christian and been involved in the local Church for over 15 years, asserted that,”Yes, but Abraham had the Law and so he understood about……” (they were not talking about the pre-Moses law) I wonder just how many Christians will really notice the error in this claim. I continued to spell out that in the case of that particular verse, it was not speaking to exploring Scripture but to the false teaching and school of thought of the Gnostics, but he wouldn’t accept it. Let me ask, how can a forty year minister & laborer in the Gospel, not know and understand about a thing that probably half the books of the New Testament relate to?

How could he study and teach the Bible fully without being aware of a thing that was so influential in the New Testament church? And then how can the congregation hope to figure out these things and be in a position to understand their Bible well, if they are not told?

Let’s us as teachers and preachers sew together the aspects of God’s Word and God’s plan into a seamless tapestry that our people can draw on for the rest of their lives, helping them to figure out God, His Eternal Plan, the role of the Church and how to better translate the Bible to live by.

It is not difficult to do, and it is not boring if we are prepared to put in a bit of study with prayer and fervor, and just possibly you can make use of a Bible Timeline as well.

Why is it that we get stuck in a rut of our favorite themes and feel good discourses?

We preach on a text from Habakkuk and a passage about Ezra and a topic from the book of Haggai and then the obedience of John the Baptist or the perseverance of Noah – pieces from here and everyplace, but we do not put it all together in an apparent understandable, simple to remember, perspective with a capable Bible TimeLine and Church History as well. Constantly we’re bombarded with new books, modernist ideas, a number of them perilously edging toward Liberal theology, when if we were to be coached the basics of Church history, we then would not be so bound to do the same again.
